MEDIA RELEASE FROM BELFAST 89FM
Belfast 89FM has announced that founder director, John Rosborough, is stepping down from the Board of the Company as of July 3rd 2018.
John said: ‘As Belfast 89FM celebrated its 3rd birthday on June 30, the station has established itself firmly on the radio dial as a valued listening choice for the over-55s, otherwise known as the ‘Baby Boomers’. A growing team of volunteers give their time willingly to serve this audience week after week, and it has been a rewarding experience to help this sector of radio develop. I feel now is the appropriate moment to turn to new digital projects that I have had in mind, and I wish all at Belfast 89FM well for the future.’
Belfast 89FM Chairman Joe McCormack said:
‘John has made an enormous contribution to the development of the local radio sector in Northern Ireland and without his enthusiasm and experience, Belfast 89FM would not be the successful and popular station it is today.’
‘Establishing a successful radio station is a major challenge involving training presenters, scheduling and complex technical issues and all that goes with that. John and his fellow founding Directors tackled the task in a way that laid solid foundations for the future of the station.’
‘John’s contribution to the continued success of Belfast 89FM has been enormous and he has contributed significantly to the broadcasting development of our cohort of volunteers. On behalf of everyone at Belfast 89FM, may I wish John every good wish and success for the future as he undertakes new projects.’
